Mike Padgett was the head coach of the Amherst Lancers, Paul Johnson was the head coach of the Heritage Pioneers. They were both very kind to me throughout the years and were very gracious with their time. Chris Ellis and Jon Dansby were two players off of Heritage who shared their thoughts as well.

It was a rare Sunday game. Heritage High School was the site for the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers taking on the Rustburg Red Devils. After the game I was able to talk to Krystal (Ellis) Harris, Michelle Riddle and Wendy Almond from Rustburg. Jefferson Forest Head Man, Gary Harris shared his thoughts as well,.

It's a flashback episode on The Sports Buffet. In 2006, Morhead (NC) travelled up to Naruna, to take on William Campbell. Mickey Crouch was coaching Morhead. I only had the pleasure of talking to Coach Crouch, I think four times. For me it was a treat. Coach Crouch passed away a little over two years ago. To say he was everyone's cup of tea, probably wouldn't be 100 percent truthful. But, I found Coach Crouch engaging and humorous (and most importantly truthful and straight forward). He recapped this trip up to Virginia on The Sports Buffet Podcast.

Back in 2006, Morehead (NC) made the trip up to Naruna, to take on William Campbell. At the time, Brad Bradley was the head football coach at William Campbell. So many similarities in what Coach Bradley was then and what he is now. Coaches lose games and players win games. After a loss, it was the next game up (and it still is) for Coach Bradley. Hear this interview on The Sports Buffet Podcast, as we go back in the vault.

Everyone at Altavista will tell you that ATC (Athletic Trainer) Angela Emerson is a MVP for all the sports teams. Back in the day of "Talking High School Sports", Angela was a contributor to Bumps and Bruises. It was a segment to where Athletic Trainers would talk about an issue that they were passionate about and how to deal with it. In this edition, Angela talks about the very painful "Plantar fasciitis". In this edition, Angela tell us what it is, how to help it, and more.

Doug Day is one of the better guys you'll find around. Back in 2005-2006, I spoke with the head boys basketball coach at Blacksburg, after they defeated Gretna. The game was at Franklin County High School as part of the Member One Classic. Here's a classic flashback with Doug Day.

When I get together with former Lynchburg area basketball coach, Tom Brown, we can talk and talk and talk. "Laker" Tom (as he was known when he first interacted) can always go down memory lane with historical takes (on his favorite teams especially) and he gave some thoughts on the Lakers history, and does Danny Hurley want to become involved in that history?

Sunday Jun 09, 2024

Cam Shepherd (Brookville Boys Basketball Coach) and I spent some time on Saturday, June 8th talking about Danny Hurley. As of recording, he still had not made a decision if he was going to leave U Conn and become the Lakers Head Coach. We talked about that, and we also dipped our feet in the water, of high school coaches, coaching where they played. All that on "Sports Talk with Girl Dads"

Saturday May 18, 2024

Matt Klein is the new head coach at Liberty Christian Academy. Paul Redgate, the former boys coach, shifts to coach the girls upon Heather Stephens stepping down as head girls coach. Matt Klein talked about coming to LCA from New Covenant, what he expects out of the Seminole District and more.

A week ago Friday, I had a chance to catch up with the new face of the Bees (who's on a return), Mark Lineburg. Coach was very gracious with his time and talked about leaders that he respects. We talked about the history of Radford Football (his father is the legendary, Norm Lineburg). We also touched on his previous time at Brookville and what he wants to see this time.
